Need Light Recommendation for Blind Date Series and Night Time MTB Riding

rondot@spiritone.com

2011-09-24

The last two years I have raced SS just before the A race and used my light each night. It seems as though some do not feel they need lights, so it seems to be personal preference with regard to riding a bike (at speed) in poor light conditions. My old eyes need additional light. I put in many commuting years with “crap” for light sources (literally riding in the dark). With what is available now, it is almost like riding in daylight. And light does not need to be pointed in other riders eyes.

Best light hands down for night time riding mtb or road Baja Designs. Check em www.bajadesigns.com $298-$449 900-1800 lumen options. They make off road ATV and motorcycle lights so durability and strength is superb.

Blind Date lights should be less than 50 lumen or so, so they don't blind
anyone.

Night time mountain biking is a whole different story. Go with a Niterider
MiNewt 250, 350, or 600. Great durable lights and they come with a bar and
helmet mount.

They want you to aim your light downward so as not to blind any oncoming
traffic. I fully agree with that. Since you aren't focusing the light up
ahead, any cheapy 1watt LED light will work great. Night rides on your own

Looking for recommendations on Lights to be used for Blind Date Series
and night time Mountain Bike Rides. I guess I'm looking for something that
is bright enough to go bombing down some trails and has a strong
clip/attachment system so it won;t come flying off during a cross race.

Any (good or bad) recommendations, please let me know off list

Thanks
