Some answers (from my question below) were posted only to me, but here is the abridged material, some of you have seen and or know.
10 speed Wipperman and KMC links work on the SRAM, Shimano and of course their own chains no problemo. Some have had good luck re-using the black 10 speed SRAM powerlinks mainly by using needlenose pliers and or the Park / SRAM powerlink pliers to remove the powerlink....then reuse it. They have had no problems! Just a little patience to get the link off.
Also got a good recommendation for KMC chains...as in very dependable and as good as others!
So there ya go! I (we) learned something today.....now all “I” have to do is remember it for use before my dementia advances.
Hope to see lots of you at Barlow..................last weather forecast I saw called for RAIN on Sunday morning. YES !

Subject: [OBRA Chat] chain tech question
I need info. from those of you “in the know”.
I am a happy user of SRAM 8 and 9 spd chains which use the powerlock link. I find this very functional. Many years of removing chains with chain tool were kissed goodbye when I discovered the powerlock link. They are easy to install and remove making drivetrain cleaning much more efficient.
Now I find the SRAM 10 spd chain powerlock link cannot be re-used. I say why even have the powerlock link if you have to use a chain tool to remove it, then it gets tossed into the recycling bin? I guess the engineers could not design one that could be re-installed.
I heard a rumor the Wipperman 10 spd link can be re-used as well as used on a SRAM or Shimano chain.
Is this true? An actual fact?
Help me! Help me! I am crying over chain links.
I think this would be good info for more than this simpleton....there might be others wanting to know.
