Pre-registration for the Canby Cross-Word CycloCross Challenge closes
at 9pm tonight.
Gates open at 7:30, on Saturday, for on-site registration. There are
no late fees, but if any groups require 'call-ups' it will be to your
advantage to be pre-registered.
Pat's Acres has a restaurant with a deck near the start/finish. Hot
food will be served for breakfast and lunch. Their cook is excellent
and the pricing is reasonable ($4 to $7 range).
FAQ
1. The number one question we're getting is regarding the difficulty
of the river crossing. It is beginner friendly, the water is only an
inch or so deep and the trail going down to the river is not steep.
The course is challenging and has one of the best varieties of
terrain for any cx course, but it's still beginner friendly.
2. What is the course like? Variety is the key word. Hard pack,
grass, paved kart track, soft dirt, mud, gravel, log barriers,
climb-ups, etc. It's a fairly fast course, so your legs will feel
fresh & fast for the Crusades race the next day. If you win at the
Canby Cross Challenge, you'll win at Alpenrose...will...we can't
guarantee that, but we can guarantee you'll have fun - the Pat's
Acres course is a total kick!
3. Tent setup - Tents & canopies can be setup in several places close
to the start/finish area, or the pit area. However, one thing to
note, if you want to drive vehicles into the central (or pit area)
you will need to do so between 7:30 & 8:30 am, before the racing
begins. After the racing begins, the access road into the central
area will be for pedestrians & cyclists only.
4. Prizes - We had custom vintage medals made for the top three
places of every category (except unicycles). We will also have misc.
prizes in some of the other categories, including $40 gift
certificates for Karting at Pat's Acres.
5. Alcohol? It's allowed, but it will not be served. However,
absolutely no alcohol in the fenced off Kart track area where the
kids will be racing - that includes before & after their event.
6. Which side do numbers go on? Left (this is subject to change, but
the current plan is for timing & scoring to be on the left side)
7. Cross Crusade numbers? Yes, bring your Crusade number, if you have
one. If not, we have extra Crusade numbers at registration. If you
lost your number there is a $5 replacement charge.
8. Check in if pre-registered? Yes, no paperwork, but do please let
us know you're there so we can put a check mark by your name.
9. How much to enter a second race? $10 for a second race, but I
believe that has to be done on site, I don't think you can
pre-register for a second race.

the header. The race flyer, is on obra's web site.
