This race was well organized and made great use of the venue. My warm up was made up of riding around and checking out the other options available at this location. I did this not to suggest the course was in need of improvement, but just to see what might be available next time it is used for cyclocross. There are LOTS of options just as the area has been set up and or recently modified with the new tractor cuts through the woods. First thought is imagine doing the course in reverse. That would change it a great deal. There are many berms and other areas that could be used as run-ups that would not take much work from the standpoint of course prep. Could use a little less of the paved go cart track from my perspective, but it was fun with the tight corners.
It was exciting when I went in the edge of the river on a warm up lap....those teenage course marshals there loved to encourage riders to NOT use the brakes as we descended toward the gravel crossing. I enjoyed being there brief entertainment. Sounds like you gave them a good show JJ.
Yes. I do hope it returns and racers support it. It came on the schedule late and the day before Crusade opening day probably did not help attendance. It would be a good mid to late Sept race. Might get pretty tough if in the middle of a week or two of rainfall.
Thanks all for putting on the race. Made me work hard, but is was fun all the way around each time. Course just kept getting worked in better each lap.

That was my first cross race. I crashed twice, the second time in the river after trying a "no brakes" descent onto the crossing that had me hit the gravel bridge with too much sideways momentum, which meant sliding off into the river. It stunned me pretty good, and my right leg hit that gravel bar pretty hard leaving a deep muscle bruise, and pushed a few things out of shape on the bike. I got cleared my head, got up, pushed things generally back in place and continued on. But, I had fun and, with more experience will hopefully find a way to get power down while chattering over bumpy grass and be able to navigate more technical areas with some semblance of deftness. Definitely thought fitness would be more of a factor in my first cross race, but turns out I couldn't really think too much about pedaling hard most of the time...Was too busy thinking about how to keep my skeleton from rattling loose. Gonna try lower tire pressure next time and hit the trails a bit more! Can't wait until next year to see how much I can improve.

I second this! That was one of the most fun courses I've ever ridden
(not that I've ridden many, but still...)
Hope it makes an appearance on the schedule next year for sure!
