Today I had the opportunity to be a part of a very small group to represent
the bike industry of Oregon to the Secretary of Commerce of the Federal
Government. It was a honor to be invited and to be part of this group and
realize the government is paying attention to to the bike industry and sees
as a valuable asset to our country.

Ruckus has come so far in only a few short years, this is primarily due to
the overwhelming support of many of you and it is so ridiculously
appreciated.

We will continue to work our asses off and be the best business we can be.

I thought that I would thank all of you for the support of all of you!

I realize that; me with a "Worksman Three Weeler"; is not in your bicycling circles: but I do want to thank all of you for your support!

I especially am looking forward to at sometime in the near future seeing my old College friend Hans Voldengen. By the way I've just logged 1000 Miles on my Odometer!

And that is on a heavyweight commercial bike!

Incidentally my near and dear didn't think that I would stick with it!

Last night at the OBRA banquet I was overwhelmed with surprises and awards.
You cannot imagine by delight at being presented with a certificate for my
very own custom Vanilla that was put together by a group of OBRA riders and
bike shops. I cannot express how honored I am.

I want to send out a special note of thanks to everyone who showed up today

for the annual velodrome clean up day. Despite threatening weather

predictions we were able to paint the entire velodrome, all the lines, etc.

The place always looks so great when we get done and it is tremendously

satisfying to see so many people participating in making this happen.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been preparing for the upcoming =

Master Nationals in Spokane.   In the process I have had my first "real =

world" experience with the USCF.   What a headache.   While this whole =

process has been very frustrating, the intent of this email is not to =

start a dialogue of what is wrong(maybe it isn't as bad as my initial =

experience??) or right with the USCF, but rather to publicly thank all =

who make OBRA such a pleasant organization to work with.   From Mike and =

Candi Murray to Nancy Magnus and the other officials, to the long list =

of promoters like Jim Anderson, Jeff Mitchem, NW Velo and Tabor, Chris =

Hamilton, Bruce Harmon, Jamie Mikami etc and so many more. You have all =

bee so friendly and accommodating.   We may not have the perfect =

organizational structure, but we are very lucky to have officials and =

promoters who will go out of their way to make racing in Oregon a =

pleasant experience for all. =20

Thanks to everyone that turned out to paint the Velodrome today. Everyone

worked very hard and the place looks beautiful. It is amazing how much work

can be done so quickly when everyone pitches in. The track surface, all the

lines, all the rails and the officials pillbox were all painted. A grand

total of 100 or so gallons of paint!

Special thanks to Tom Thompson for organizing the whole affair. Thanks to

for Bonnie and Dave Martin for power washing the track to get it ready to

paint, to Shirlee Clark for showing up on her birthday, to all the people

that drove up from Salem, the list goes on and on. It is really great that

there are other people to share the obsession.
