Now we know what it is like to race on a UCI course (I have deemed it so). Simply put, it provided the fun and necessary punishment for those of us taking part.
I think the neatest thing about the Rainier course today (other than the usual fantastic job by the Crusade crew from top to bottom, sponsors and officials) was the surface conditions were perfect for really making people LEARN about traction, cornering general bike control and other aspects of cross that come into play. What roots? I never saw them...I was too focused on Leet as he pulled away. My radar finally lost contact with him!
The hill was just an add-on!
