help at Cross Crusade?

Bound South

2011-10-15

We normally ride 6-8 hours each day, so even an intense 45 minutes sounds
pretty restful by comparison! I hope we still remember how to ride our
bikes when they don't weigh 100 lbs! Tomorrow we are building with the
local Habitat affiliate (which is our day off). We heard about Cross
Crusade on Sunday and well, carpe diem right?

If you see three guys looking lost on Sunday on their Surly Trolls, make
sure to say hi! Thanks everyone.

If those guys are hauling all they need each day............they may not be fast, but they probably could race every race and be steady as she goes (not slow) in each cat! Their bikes will feel like they weigh NOTHING without all the gear!

I read it as:

Step 1: rest the legs a bit and build for Habitat for Humanity.
THEN
Step 2: Race some cyclocross

But I'm from next door in MN so maybe I understand upper Midwestern better than the average OBRA member ;)

Hey folks,

My two brothers and myself are on a bicycle expedition from Alaska to Argentina (www.BoundSouth.org) on behalf of Habitat for Humanity.

We hit Portland this weekend to rest our legs a bit, build with the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate, and explore what the city has to offer. We've heard about Cross Crusade and think that stripping down our touring bikes and racing it on Sunday would be a riot of a good time.

We're North Dakota boys which means we are a little out of our element with weekend transportation, cyclocross racing, etc. It would be ideal if there was a low-key, fun-minded 'cross racing club that could "adopt" the three of us for the day. The chance to meet some new people, enjoy the event, take some photos, and even just have a place to park the bikes safely would be huge. Car-pooling could also be a huge help for us.

If anyone can help or knows someone who can, please let us know! Thank you!
