Hello there, fellow OBRA racers!

For those of you who didn't receive the email update I sent out earlier this week... cyclocross season is in full swing and we are getting everything ready for the sixth edition of the ever-popular Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic, presented by West End Bikes.

more info: http://www.portlandracing/com/cx

This year, the "Mother of all Farm Cross Races" will take place on Sunday, November 20th, just a month away and one week after the final Cross Crusade race. With the final stage of the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross hosted in Bend this year, Kruger's Crossing will be the last cyclocross race of the season in Portland proper and, in good tradition, we plan to make it a fun one!

Like in years past, this won't be your usual cross race. Expect a wild course that will lead you through berry fields, pastures, a barn, across a pumpkin barrier, along rutted farm roads, a bonfire, a live band, a giant pig, and a beer garden!

In the morning, our perennial coffee sponsor Nossa Familia will be serving free gourmet coffee and Bob's Red Mill will call present to serve their yummy, signature steel cut oatmeal. Later in the day, we'll have hot food at hand - catered by Kruger's Farm Market and their concession stands - and ample quantities of freshly draught organic craft ale, courtesy of Portland Urban Brewing.

There will be free kiddie races for the young ones and, by popular demand, we will once again host the Doggie Dash CX World Championships, a free and fun cross race (on-leash and sans bikes) for our four-legged friends, featuring multiple categories. We'll have a bunch of prizes and treats provided by our dog race sponsors for the top finishers in each category and for the most original dog attire!

And talking about prizes... we'll be raffling off more than $2,000 in prizes among all racers, courtesy of our generous sponsors West End Bikes, Specialized, Portland Design Works, Corsa Concepts and Chris King.

That's it. As we get closer to the event, I will provide you another update about the course and any other new things that percolate. For now, mark Sunday Nov 20th on your calendar for a fun-filled race day at the farm. And spread the word with your racing and non-racing friends alike. Kruger's Farm is a very spectator-friendly venue and close by for anyone who lives in the Portland area!

See you at the races!

~Kris

PS 1: Pre-registration is open NOW! To save time and reduce waiting lines on race day, we strongly encourage you to pre-register online at http://www.portlandracing.com/cx/registration.html

As usual, we'll have an "express line" at registration for pre-registered racers, so all you have to do on race day is check in and you're all good to go. And to sweeten the deal, all pre-registered riders will get a start line CALL-UP and a FREE entry in our raffle of a Corsa Concepts wheelset (or a $425 voucher towards a Corsa wheelset of higher value). Just get on it!

PS 2: Volunteer and race for free! As always, we're looking for a couple hardy and joyful volunteers to help with set-up, registration, lap counting, course marshaling, and tear-down. If you are interested in helping out and get a free race entry while you're at it, just shoot me an email.
