Written (and nicely done) by one of the Seatlle 'Cross Stalwarts, Rich

McClung.

(Cut and pasted from the Washington racing Topica list). Look for the

retort from the Knights of the Cross Crusade....

Seattle Hath Won the "Grail Della Grunge" by Rich McClung

Verily, we were almost too depressed and preoccupied by our caramel lattes

to notice, but we the soldiers of the Seattle Metro Series hath emerged

victorious in this "Grail De La Grunge"; a war which hath torn families and

lives asunder. We did hear thy rumblings, Portlanders, of thy impending

rebellion even as we prepared to fight amongst ourselves at the battle of

North Sea-Tac in late Septembre. We didst then lay down our arms against our

brothers, and strode confidently into the dirty grounds of Alpenrose. And

yea, we were stunned by our defeat there, and we didst barely escape with

our lives, but we didst rally and emerge victorious in the fields of PIR

north of your faire city. Surely the gods of cyclocross did smile in our

favour, striking down Sir Tonkin's steed from under him. Discouraged not,

you Portlanders did strike back immediately, at the citadel of Tacoma, but

we didst parry your attack handily. Finally, though it was a majestic swan

song and valiant effort, you didst try again to overcome us at our beautiful

Lincoln Park. Again we drove our enemies away from our faire homeland, and

didst accept thy oaths of homage.

And now that it is over, may peace reign over our lands. May we join forces

to strike down thoth infidels who wouldst pray only to the pavement, or

prayeth only to the trails, and converte these infidels to the true path of

Cyclocross.
