For all those looking for a good way to get some training in through the
off season, come on down and try out some cross training classes at Upper
Echelon.
The Tuesday/Thursday 6pm class I lead is intended on building a good level
of off the bike fitness that will turn into on the bike gains in support of
your 2012 season. The class is focused around building aerobic fitness
through running and agility drills, sharpening your coordination skills,
weights, building power, core stability and stretching. There is some
indoors and outdoors drills, utilizing all the tools possible to provide a
quality training session. The classes are progressive in nature and
designed to build your fitness through the season so that you are ready to
get in some base miles and turn it into on the bike power
The class is off the bike through December, so come with running shoes,
shorts and a shirt so that you are ready to do some running. Its a great
way to help keep burn out from interfering with your performance by mixing
in another set of skills. Off the bike training can also help to prevent
common cycling overuse injuries by working on general strength, and
changing the range of motion patterns and incorporating other important
muscles that tend to be neglected by solely riding. Our NW Portland
location also makes it a great way to get in a killer workout on your way
home from work as well. Classes are $15 a class, or $125 for a 10 pack of
classes. Sign up here:
