You can get a small tub of desiccant at Lowe's. They work very well.
ALSO, another product that works very well as a rust preventitive for tools is CAMPHOR GUM BLOCKS.
These camphor blocks are 2"x2"x1/2" thick and wrapped in cellophane. You slit the wrapper , put it in the drawer of your tool box and over time the block evaporates and will prevent rust. Plus it makes your tool box smell good while clearing your sinuses(it's actually not that strong)!

Anyone out there in OBRA-land have any idea where I could find some of those desiccant bags ( or other form ). I need to keep some precision tools dry and I've tried several on-line venues to no avail. Actually, I found several on-line shops that would like to sell me 100 1 gram bags, 1 pound containers, and so on. So it is time to shop locally (I'm in Portland).

Thanks for any pointers.

The drying agent in those commercially available dehumidifiers is calcium chloride, often used to melt ice and snow, used in solution to weight tractor tires, and used in the swimming pool industry.

I heard that you can get it in larger quantities at Michaels - I think
it is marketed as an agent to dry flowers.

If that doesn't work go to a sporting goods store or gun store and get one of the dehumidifiers for gun safes.

Buy a big thing of kitty litter with crystals, actually the kind that is
all crystals, it's the same stuff as you buy at rv and boat shops. Google
it to find the exact brand. It's something like 25x cheaper than buying
"desiccant".
