Good morning Mike,

I hope this message finds you well, and that you had an enjoyable
Thanksgiving Feast yesterday!

My name is Liz Smith, and I am the new 4-H Program Coordinator at the
Discovery Farm Clubhouse at Alpenrose, and I am helping Lisa Battan bring
Storybook Lane back this Christmas for new generations to enjoy.

It's been a couple of weeks since Lisa sent this message out asking "other
users" of Alpenrose to do their bit to make the tradition a success. So, far
our parking assignments are really low - and through conversations with
Tracey A and Bill of Alpenrose, parking is one of the elements that can make
or break the experience for everyone.

Hence this email. Is there any way you can prompt your folks to sign up for
a shift or two? There will be unlimited hot chocolate!

I understand it is likely to be cold, but my guess is that Bike Racers are
up to the challenge.

I can call you if you need any further details, but I didn't want to disturb
you too much on this day of rest for many. In addition, we can make
available some OBRA information at both the Information Booth and in the 4-H
Clubhouse with a big Thank You sign for your group's volunteering efforts.
And, it'll be fun!

Thanks again for your time and energies -

Take care,

Liz Smith

Dear Friends of Alpenrose,

Last month, Tracey Cadonau put the word out that Christmas at Alpenrose
would return this year to Dairyville.

To help bring this Portland tradition back to our community, I hope you'll
"step up to the plate" and volunteer a shift or two to say THANK YOU to
Alpenrose for all the generosity we've enjoyed over the years. Many of us
utilize the Alpenrose property at different times of the year and never get
a chance to meet one another. Christmas in Dairyville is a great opportunity
to come together and show our gratitude through volunteering to help make
this event a success.

If you don't know about the tradition of Storybook Lane, you're in for a
treat! For those who know what I'm talking about, the magic is returning
complete with farm animals, hundreds of fresh trees, flocking and lots of
twinkling lights. The opera house will be running classic Christmas movies,
Santa will be taking gift lists in the ice cream parlor and goodies will be
for sale in the concession stands.

Right now, we need volunteers to fill shifts helping out with traffic and
staffing the concession stands for the first 3 weekends in December.

Shifts vary in length from 2-4 hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

To make it easier for you to see what's available, we've set up all
volunteer opportunities at VOLUNTEERSPOT.COM.

Once you enter your email address, you can select volunteer opportunities
from the calendar.

You don't have to go through a long registration process. A simple email
address will save your space and remind you 2 days before your shift.

Here's where you can sign up:

Concession Stands:

If you're not comfortable with this system, just email back with your shift
preference and I'll write you in.

PASS THIS INFO ON TO YOUR MEMBERS

Feel free to call me if you have questions.

This Saturday we're wrapping boxes, hanging garlands, decorating trees and
looking for helpers. Come by 10am-2pm.

Hope to see you,

Lisa Battan - 4-H Leader and Volunteer Coordinator for Christmas at
Dairyville
