Subject: [OBRA Chat] Season of giving - Give!Guide promotion for the BTA

Dear OBRA -

Tis the season of giving. Is there a better gift to give (or get) than
the safe, healthy and accessible streets for walking and biking?

Support the BTA via the Willamette Week Give!Guide this holiday season.
We make your life better.

http://giveguide.oaktree.com/Welcome.aspx

Why you should give money to us:

* Our bicycle safety program has taught over 43,000 students since
1998. This month alone we added 517 students utilizing 186 volunteer
hours.
* We are facing two critical points in local and federal funding
of bicycling. We need resources to expand our advocacy work now to
ensure that there are no serious setbacks to building bicycle friendly
communities.
* The BTA has helped thousands of people experience bicycle
commuting through our annual Bike Commute Challenge. This year was a
record breaker: 12,000 riders on more than 1,200 teams.
* 40% of Portland public school children's trips were walking or
biking, compared to just 36% completed by family vehicle. Last spring
alone, parents reported their K-5 students walked to or from school 32%
of the time and biked 8.5%. That means a total of 40.5% of trips were
active, fun, and healthy!
* You'll make Kenji happy. He's a board member.

AND if you live in Washington County, teamestrogen.com will match
(MATCH!) your contribution up to $2,000.

Go bikes!

Susan
