The rules have always prohibited mixing freewheel and fixed in the same
field but this has not been enforced uniformly. The proposed rule change
only moves this and the other cross equipment rules to a more consistent
location and makes it more clear.
To make things entirely legal race organizers can rule the following to make
a special rule:
1.5 Event specific rules

Just wondering what problems rule change 7.10.4 is meant to solve?
We let fixies race in our SS/MEN B field for the Psycho Cross series in Eugene. We typically only have one or two fixed gear riders, if any, and our total field is fairly small. So, this hasn't caused any problems (that I've heard of).
Under this rule, would fixies be allowed on the course at the same time as freewheels, if they start 30 seconds or a minute behind?
Will we still allow unicycle's to race with freewheel bikes?
