Do let the powers that be know how you feel ! The Buena Vista ferry (just off the Cherry Pie race course, on Buena Vista Road) recently survived a similar discussion. In this case, the local farmers really wanted to keep it since it provides some more direct driving for them. It wasn't just the cyclists lobbying. The upshot was they replaced the old ferry with a somewhat larger one and there is a fee for cyclists. Seemed like a perfectly reasonable outcome.

I for one have always wondered why we, cyclists, didn't have to pay the toll and would be happy to support a system where we contribute. Especially given how bitter the driver can be towards cyclists.
