Wanted: Bike Fitting Recommendations?

I also recommend UEF\PBS.

I have se several bikes and they after a good fit and recording of measurements, all bikes were set to spec. I can jump on one or the other and they all fit and ride perfectly.

Like Russ, one less excuse for me!

I got a good fit at river city. All was fine except for a slight pain on
the outside of one knee that would always happen after 50 miles or so.
Then Rambo from Bike Gallery put a spacer in my left pedal and it cleared
up. It was the damndest thing.

The only drawback is now my fit & form are so optimized I can no longer use them as an excuse for being so slow!

Good move! A fit can help a ton both with discomfort and efficiency. I like the concept of a moving, rather than static, fit. There's lots of good options in PDX, I had really good results from a Retul fit by Bill Larson at Cyclepath. The Retul system is a motion capture camera and sensors stuck to anatomic points. Not only did I get two bikes fit right (different than what long practice had set up) but saw some interesting pedal motions that I had no idea I was doing.

If you already have some pain, another possibility is one of OBRA's medical / chiropractic resources.

Getting a dialed fit I would say is the most important thing you can do to
your bike game. Racers spend thousands on wheels and ultra light
components, but none of that does any good if you develop a medical
condition due to improper fit.

As for where to go, check out Russell at Upper Echelon Fitness. Awesome
bike fit from a medical / PT point of view, but also totally dialed into
what racers want / need. Check him out. You'll be stoked.

I'm considering bucking up for a bike fit with the hope of addressing some chronic pain points I encounter road riding that none of my DIY adjustments have eased. There are numerous options in the Portland area, many of which proclaim their unique value with varying levels of superlatives and acronyms. An informal poll of my immediate circle has yielded no ringing endorsements or recommendations, so I'm hoping to tap the collective OBRA wisdom and ask for any and all opinions based on first-hand experience about particular fit systems, shops, or fitters in and around Portland. I would appreciate your input on-list or off. Thanks in advance.
