Subject: 2012 Columbia Gorge Fat Tire Festival Announced
Hello OBRA!
The Breakaway Promotions crew who brought you the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic, Cascade Cycling Classic, Mt. Bike Nationals in Sun Valley as well as Mt. Bike Marathon Nationals in Bend last year is excited to present 2012 Columbia Gorge Fat Tire Festival. Capitalizing on the dry spring conditions of the Eastern end of the Columbia Gorge as well as amazing views of the Columbia Gorge and Mt. Hood this event will surprise you. The event will be located in The Dalles on the newly acquired Forest Service property called Eagle Caves Trail System. The weekend will be highlighted by some great racing with a time trial on Saturday morning, short track event Saturday afternoon and cross country races on Sunday.
Courses
The trails are fast and have an amazing flow to them. The cross country course is a 6.5 mile loop with roughly 500 feet of climbing per lap. This is not a climbers race this is a power course. The race will be staged out of the Old Chenowith Middle School property which we will completely convert to event central and a full base area of festivities. We will offer a wide variety of categories as well as the most comprehensive junior mt. bike race in the Northwest on a special junior course. Courses are all extremely accessible to spectators and competitors are encouraged to bring friends and family out for the weekend.
Amenities
Onsite tent camping and RV spaces are available for a small fee and are located just a stones through from the staging area. We will have an event expo, bike demos, food, kiddie mt. bike race and Friday night ride all on site. Parking is plentiful and access extremely easy.
Prizes
Prizes will consist of $1000 cash prize purse, merchandise, and medals for podium placing. Ride all three event and be eligible for the King/Queen of the Gorge Competition. Omnium scoring will be utilized to find the best rider for the entire weekend.
Registration
Registration is now open as well as all the information and maps on our website at www.gorgefattire.com
