I know there are many sweet Cross bikes out there in the universe, but I want to put a shout out for the Specialized Crux Disc. I purchased a frameset from Westend Bikes near the end of Cross season. I have it set up as a rain bike with about 400 miles on it so far. I have not raced it, but am looking forward to doing so. This bike is so sweet and stable....and the disc brakes are spot on for nasty conditions (Avid mechanical). I figured there might be some people thinking this far ahead about moving to disc brakes for Cross next season. This is why I mention my love for this bike at this time. I am not saying this is the perfect bike as everyone has different perspectives on a ride. But if looking I think this bike or frame set is worth a good look.
The crew at Westend Bikes were super nice and easy to work with and bent over backwards to put my muddy little hands on the frame set. Mark and I have battled back and forth in the old guy cat numerous times. Please support them and our other fantastic LBShops.
I also assume we will be seeing (they are probably already in production or even on the sales floors) many more disc ready or disc specific Cross frames. I know Cannondale and Redline are already on board. My experience thus far is the added weight of the disc brakes is not even noticeable and I love that I am not TRASHING my rims!
Have fun out there and ride safe.
