Mike,

Jordan is the Chief Referee for the Banana Belt series and is trying to
communicate issues. That being said, here are the pertinent rules regarding
placement of #'s

8.2 Technical requirements
Numbers will be block figures and will be easily read at a distance.
They will be black figures on a white background. Riders will place
their numbers according to the instructions of the officials and/or
race organizer.

and

8.5.2 Two number requirement
In road competitions on public roads, with the exception of
criteriums, riders shall wear two numbers. One shall be on the on
the lower left back facing the rear of the rider. Riders with
temporary numbers shall be exempted from this rule. Penalty may
be a relegation of 5 spots from the rider

I'm not Banana Belting but your number placement request (second number on the pocket) does not agree with the official OBRA word and sample pictures. So if people are confused, that might be why. Unless they're only wearing one, then feel free to break out the whip after all.

This feels like a silly reminder but all too often racers throw bottles without thinking of the impact it may have on the future of the venue you are racing at. Also note that throwing bottles outside of designated areas is considered littering (another OBRA rule) and can end your day of racing.

Thank you to everyone that came out and made the first BB a great one. I do have a few bits of house keeping to go over before BB #2.

1. Numbers: per OBRA rules you need to use both numbers for all road races. One on your side and one on your pocket. We gave out warnings last week, this week we will not be as nice.

2. Helmets: as most of you know it is a requirement that you wear you helmet anytime you are at the venue (before your race or after) on your bike. If an official asks you to put it on please do so.

3. Waterbottles: the only place bottles should be is on your person or in the offficials car or cars in the caravan. This feels like a silly reminder but all too often racers throw bottles without thinking of the impact it may have on the future of the venue you are racing at. Also note that throwing bottles outside of designated areas is considered littering (another OBRA rule) and can end your day of racing.
