At least you got to avoid the whole V-brake vs. Disc debate we all went

My BB7s have always been one-finger brakes.

Damn y'all got a lot of opinions on disc brakes!!!! I didn't mean to blow up the postings over the past day with my question.

But I really want to say thanks for all the advice on mechanical vs hydraulic, rotor size, even cleaning tips.

I think that I'm going to go with Flintstone brakes, I'll just put my feet down to stop...it worked for my daughter for a couple of years :)

Actually, I'm leaning towards Shimano SLX hydraulics. It was that or Avid BB7's for mechanical. The final decision is that I like the whole "one finger pull" with hydraulics. And I like the price of the SLX.

Brakes were so much easier to learn about with road bikes. I'm a light weight so stoping power is not in my vocabulary. I've got a set of TRP 920's with Koolstop pads. Their lighter and cheaper than Red or Dura ace. No idea how the stoping power compares, but when your only stoping 150lbs, who cares. And yes that is 150lbs with my bike and 2 water bottles. My team captain calls my team kit "pixie" size...real funny when I'm waiting for him at the top of hills :)

Thanks again for all the feedback!
