The omission of this famous climb from the Ronde has so incensed some citizen that he (or she?) threatened to put tacks along the new course.

A few years ago, a local guy was so incensed that the then newly revived OSU collegiate road race went by his farm that he drove his manure spreader directly across the road, blocking the racers. The sheriff had to be called to get him to remove it ... Which he did.

So...in OR, folks get annoyed when a race does go by. In Belgium, God love em, they get mad when it doesn't.
