It performs wonderfully. I doubt you'd have any problems keeping an 8spd
chain, too.

Theoretically, running the other way around (8spd spaced cranks and 9spd
chain) will result in the chain getting wedged between chainrings.
Theoretically.

But what you want to do, no problem.
