If anybody cares, Steve Johnson received $283,279 from USA Cycling last year
($242,050 compensation, $41,239 "other").

The black socks wouldn't have been allowed under USCF rules in the 80's,
and now new sock restrictions are forthcoming from the UCI that will forbid
any socks that are longer than half the height from the ankle to the knee.
This is being done to avoid the use of compression socks during competition.
I remember when we were first allowed to have a colored side panel on
shorts, as long as the stripe was no more than maybe 5 inches in height (or
some thereabouts number). There were limits to the size and placement of
advertising and team names. Everything was very strict. That was just about
the same time that they disallowed hairnets. I'm incredibly impressed that
OBRA exists concurrent with these huge bureaucrazies and stuffy
organizations. That OBRA can be a grassroots organization like a utopian
evolution without any revolution. It's a good lesson in belief in change. Go
team!

I think some of those socks might be illegal too.
