Women of OBRA:

May 13th is world CycloFemme day, conceived to celebrate, empower and inspire women through cycling. It's the brainchild of Sarai Snyder of “Girl Bike Love” blogger fame and Tanya Quick, a NYC businesswoman and bike commuter.

More about CycloFemme here http://cyclofemme.com.

In support, please meet at 8a on May 13th at Upper Echelon Fitness for a "training" ride with our fellow female Portland racer friends. We’ll don some CycloFemme tattoos then ride, chat, laugh and suffer for 2.5+ hours, ending at Woodlawn Park at the Women on Wheels booth where we’ll take part in the mass CycloFemme parade being organized as part of Sunday Parkways. .

Please wear team kit. We'd like the awesome and awesomely large presence of female racers to make an impact when we roll up to the start of the Parkways ride. And please encourage family, friends, kids, boyfriends and girlfriends to meet us at Woodlawn Park. All genders and ages welcome for the parade ride.

The mass ride will end at Fernhill Park where we’ll eat cake (literally) and hear a few speakers (including the lovely and soon-to-be-France-bound Jennifer Cree). A 'women's cycling resource guide' will also be available for new riders.

So see you at 8a on the 13th at UEF for a morning of riding and inspiring in support of women in cycling.

HONOR THE PAST and the emancipation of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, for the freedom to choose and the chance to wear pants. CELEBRATE THE PRESENT and the riders who keep it rolling, bringing women's racing to the forefront, pushing the limits, breaking down barriers and sharing the love of the bike with everyone along the way. EMPOWER THE FUTURE of women in cycling and the opportunity for positive social change. Teach women to ride and they will change the world. MAY 13TH, 2012
