Yes. No Cat 4.

Although that's probably the category I belong in.

As far as course is course is concerned- any old timers want to pipe up on it?

I've only done two beginners mtn bike races (as a cat 3) and was wanting to step up to take on the 2's, but as long as I keep having fried potatoes for breakfast I can also ride with the Clydes. Clydes do 12 miles, Cat 2's do 24 miles. I race on a CX bike and a course report might help me decide which cat to sign up for. Appearantly the Bear Springs Trap course would have been suicide on a cx bike so the shorter course would have suited me better there. Any course knowledge out there to influence my decision?

I'd like to throw in that this is a great opportunity to show a city
how much of a positive impact we can have. This is one of the first
times I have ever had a city put on a race- and they have great help
from Bike Newport and Dave. This will be a great time! A successful
race here will make a difference in other communities- and may help
open up other mountain biking opportunities.

Let's show Newport what OBRA is all about! Get out there and have some fun!

This is a race I founded and promoted with my HS students (among them Daimeon Shanks, Eric Taylor, and Damian Schmitt) from 1996 to 2003. There was quite a bit of logging after that time and the trails changed alot.

Well, trees have come back, new trails are in and some of the old ones are back. Kristina and I ridden the area extensively and it is spectacular with something for everyone. A big loop course for the purists who really love mtn biking complete with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and Yaquina View from on high. There is a WONDERFUL cycling community through BIKE NEWPORT, our local shop and the race is BACK!

The purse was DOUBLED yesterday to $3000 cash, so if you race mtn bike there is just no good reason to come to the Coast May 6th!!!

Best,
DC
