Hey OBRA Gang,
I'll be heading up to Port Gamble on the Kitsap Peninsula on the 19th of
May for the Stottlemeyer 30 and 60 mile MTB race. If you haven't done this
supa suh-weet epic MTB race, then you really need to come out and do it.
The race is unlike any other riding we get to do in the NW - it's a lot
more New England twisty, tight, deep treed, rooty single track then we
normally get. Tons of fun, well supported race, and it'll be damned
difficult - mentally taxing.
With trail names like "Stool Softener", "Nail Biter", "The Big O", "Hell on
Wheels", Derailer", "Warp Speed", "Hyperspace", "Outer Limits" ... well,
you get the picture, some pretty fun sounding trails!
I know the race promoter very well, and I think they put on some of the
best events in the NW, bar none. If you're interested, check out the race

Yes - it's a bit of a haul from Portland to get there, but if you're a true
fat-tire head - this race is an absolute MUST DO on the calendar. There
will be onsite camping if you need a cheap option for accommodations.
Roger and crew put on an excellent race, well supported, well organized,
well marked, TONS of sponsor prizes/gear raffled off to all participants,
and a great post-race party the likes of which we rarely see in our OR
based races. Registration on this race is filling up quickly, so if
you're interested, you should sign up soon. No USAC or state license
needed to participate.
