Not to start the whole conversation all over regarding “HOW and WHERE” people ride across the St. Johns Bridge but I have good news.
Since we live in North Portland we received information from the Oregon Department of Transportation regarding...

St. Johns Bridge Safety Awareness Project

In mid to late May the ODOT will be painting “Sharrows” on the bridge road surface to help with awareness that the bridge is a shared facility.
“Both motorists and bicyclists have the right to use the travel lanes. Bicyclists may also choose to use the sidewalk.”... is stated on the flyer we received.

>From my point of view this is very good news and I wish it had been done earlier, but now is better than never!!! I am sure other OBRA members in this area received the same flyer. Another good aspect of the flyer is it went to others who only drive. The more who know and understand this symbol the more safe our roadways. It is not 100% safety, but every positive step helps us and future riders.

Now as I stated in the first sentence no need to change your riding habits or convince others they need to ride the same way as you.....just sharing this is taking place!
enjoy.
