Overall, we have actually lost singletrack in the city since Mr. Fish has been head of Parks and the singletrack committee was formed.

I am with Frank on this. I watched him expend time and good to communicate
the public interest, for zero return.

Frank this idea of bike related businesses letting the "entire City Council"
know they support the single-track in FP would be very positive.....if said
business owners felt the need to do so I bet it might help the cause. It
seems that along with NWTA / IMBA pressure would be good. I understand the
feeling of wanting to vote for a person or measure because of what he/she/it
stands for or against....and have done so, but still hold to trying to vote
for what I feel is best overall. I do listen to others and even seek their
advice. I just recently spoke with someone most of the people who visit
obra chat know or know (no name, but you would not think of him as a racer
first) regarding his feeling about mayor choices. He (the youngster that he
is) did influence me and made me see somewhat differently. I may vote for a
mayoral candidate that some may not vote for, but for now feel like we need
some honesty. I listen you you Frank. You have my respect in many ways.

Ron,
True, but there can also be a time to be a single-issue voter.
If a group dedicates their votes to a particular issue for a time, that can
lead to a solution for something that would never otherwise be on the radar.
That can be more valuable than allowing minor issues to remain minor
indefinitely.
I think bike businesses are key - would be great to get a group of them
vocally behind this.
Frank

The beauty of our democratic system is that anyone can vote for any reason
they see fit, regardless of what others try to urge you to do.

I suggest voting against Nick Fish, and supporting his opponent, unless he makes progress toward single track in FP.
He ignored the recommendation of the public committee he formed to create single track.
He ignored over 1,000 Portlanders who responded to a poll, with a majority favoring more MTB in FP.
He ignored over 350 letters he got from cyclists supporting more access - far more than letters opposing it.
He threw us under the bus because the City Club said no -- the Chair of the City Club committee said "Cyclists have too much clout in city hall." So Nick put him on the Parks budget committee.
Evidence to date: Nick Fish doesn't work for us. He works for the rhymes-with-city club.
He wants to throw a bone with Gateway Green - a vacant lot surrounded by freeways. Hikers wouldn't take that trade, nor would I.
My 2 cents.
