Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday for the CycloFemme ride.
We had a great turnout of amazing women, including one novice rider who's going to give more women's group rides a go, one woman who recently moved to Portland and was blown away by our roads, and some who were just starting to train again. A diverse and fun group, thanks for making it work.
163 rides in 14 countries went down yesterday in support of CycloFemme and getting more women on bikes. Equally as exciting was the fact that the winner of yesterday's stage of the ATOC, Peter Sagan, donned a CycloFemme tattoo on his left arm which was in full view for all podium and press coverage. Pretty cool.
After Jennifer Cree's awe-inspiring speech at Fernhill Park, everyone was tasked with taking one woman they know who's been on the fence about biking out for a ride.
Our goal could be to get one woman who's been hesitant to take her riding or racing to the next level out for a clinic or race and grow the racing community that way. Personally it would take that type of encouragement and mentorship from an individual to get me to (more) races and that doesn't exist when one's not on a team, making racing seem nothing but highly intimidating.
Thanks again to everyone who came out for the ride and for being an inspiration to others. Hope to see you all again next year.
All the best,
