A couple last-minute updates ahead of tonight's short track race # 2.
1)Tonight's Call-up List.
Scroll down to view the 314 racers who either bought a series pass or pre-registered for tonight's race #2 and will receive a start-line call up. We'll keep doing this for the rest of the series, though the last 3 races, we will also do priority call-ups for the top-5 racers in each category.
2) Race plates.
If you raced last Monday, make sure to bring back your plate and re-use the pipe-cleaners (always use 3 pipe cleaners to attach your plate and make sure your plate is in front of any brake/shifter cables). If you plan to upgrade or change category, you will have to request a new plate at registration. If you forget or lose your plate, you will have to purchase a new plate (cost: $5) at registration.
3) Cat 3 & Upgrading.
Last week we saw a ton of racers in the Cat 3 Men field, many of whom raced Short Track for the very first time. If you are one of them and you raced cyclocross in a category higher than Beginner, we recommend that you upgrade to one of the Cat 2 Men age groups. Not only will you get to enjoy a less crowded racer field, but you also will get to race 5 minutes longer on a faster course (by 7pm, all the lines are fully established and packed) and in cooler temps. And you won't have to rush to get over to PIR for the start of your race. Even if you are pre-registered already, you can still upgrade tonight, just drop by registration to transfer your race entry to your new category and pick up a new race plate. And please bring your old plate, so we can re-use it.
4) Reminder: FREE weekly short track clinics from 4:30 to 5:30pm before the races.
For all those new riders out there, a reminder that we will continue to host FREE weekly clinics for novice riders (separate clinics for men and women) and junior riders. The one-hour clinics will be held each Monday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm on the short track race course (meet-up is at the bleachers on the right of the registration tent) and will include a guided bike-through of the course, various fun skill drills, and a ton of race tips from folks who not only know how to race hard but also how to race smart. Even if you are running late, you can still join in while they're out there. You don't have to register in advance for the clinics - or be registered for a race - but you definitely need to fill out a waiver before participating in the clinic.
