I rode the Test of Endurance today using my Garmin and this map from Mike. It worked great although the course is nearly all prepped and marked already!
The trails are mostly dry already. Sure there are a handful of soft slick spots but overall it was fine today and the sun was out and the woods are drying fast. To put it in perspective, the course is in better condition right now than it has been in a few years. Mike and Co. have done a great job with the new trails and taking care of the grass and bushes.
After winning this race in the past on a rigid wannabe road/mtb I am happy to say that this has become a real mountain bike course that will reward the right equipment choices and skills!
The track is very well suited to either ss or geared bikes and I imagine both to mix it up equally for the most part.
There are still some dried-in ruts in collarbone alley so if you have tend to have trouble bumps in short track races then it would be wise to chill out and take the highline or risk reinforcing its namesake.
Overall, if the weather holds as predicted, I expect more than one record to be broken Saturday as the course will likely be completely dry and super fast!
For those of you on the fence or worries about the conditions I wanted to give a candid report. This isn't intended to be a sales pitch but as a professed fair weather flyer, I look forward to racing with all who show up!
