short track sandbaggers!!

Hey now...I understand about calling out a sandbagger, but commenting that a team has a ego...come on, that's just rude.

Actually...it's rude calling out a sandbagger publically like this. Maybe there a newbie, maybe they had reason, maybe whatever. I think that if anyone has an issue with anyone else contact them off line. If you can't find them do a posting with the subject line Paging-Yer Mamma. Then hopefully Yer Mamma will contact you, then you can gripe privately. If they still sandbag, then there an ass and call them out publically.

I've only been racing for 4-5 years now, but it seams like we all have a little ego. Which we should...were the racers. I mean come on, we shave our legs and wear skin thight goofy clothing and walk into a coffe shop with all the confidence in the world.

So can we go back to picking on the non OBRA Portland hipster that just ran a red light. Or how about when I was drafting a van going the posted speed limit and the car behind me repeatedly honked and then cut me off and wedged himself inbetween me and the van. Then he didn't even have the nerve to roll down his window so I could politely tell him that I was obeying the law and he just broke the law. Actually I wasn't wearing my team kit and I probably would of just called him an ass.

Anyhow, back to my beer...

Go get 'em Rob, nice work! It seems to me that anyone racing Master B in CX
has no place in Cat 3 short track. Just sayin'...

Can do, let's look at those results:
You had 2 top 3s last year in XC racing (at Alsea Falls and Horning's), and finished no worse than top-20 in any of the Cat 3 PIR races you did. And you've been on podium for every race you've done this year. Kudos! But if you still feel the desire to beat up on the beginners, don't be surprised if you get called on it. :)

>> it seems to me that there have been, for the most part, different people on the podium each week, which is a good thing.

And they usually quickly realize that they need to upgrade and do so the following week. Hope to see you out there again soon!

Dear Cry-babies, er, Gentlemen, ;-)

Thanks for all of your kind compliments. I never really thought of myself as 'fast' before but all this attention is really helping to bolster my fragile ego! But I am feeling like a bit of a scapegoat here, as this was my first time to podium in a short track race and the only short track race I've done this year (3rd ever). I did look at the upgrade rules before entering this race and it said "Cat 3 (Beginner) racers who had at least one top-3 finish in 2011 are also asked to upgrade". I didn't have a top 3 last year and I really didn't know how this race was going to go.

As far as this year being worst than years past, it seems to me that there have been, for the most part, different people on the podium each week, which is a good thing. You might take a look at last years results before saying that this year has been 'worse'.

Anyway, I doubt I'll be able to make it out to PIR for another short track race this season, so this is at least one sandbagger you won't have to worry about.

Happy racing!

careful, those Portland Velo riders have fragile egos. ;-)

the sandbagging in the Cat 3s this year has been worse than in years past. keep calling out those sandbaggers until they upgrade!

anyone that's been in the top-20 would probably have a better race experience in the Cat 2s. huge Cat 3 fields mixed with Juniors is really not all that fun, lots of traffic jams out there.

Uh, yeah.  1st place guy in the Cat 3 Men's race:

2010:
3 top-3 CX finishes (Beginner)

2011:
2 top-3 MTB finishes (Cat 3)
2 top-10 finishes in MTB short track (Cat 3)
4 top-3 CX finishes (Cat 3)

2012:
3 top-3 MTB finishes (Cat 3)

Dude, you're way too good to be smoking people riding commuter bikes!

The three guys leading the cat 3 men’s race (of course they could have been
in different age cats) were crushing everyone else!  Maybe we need to get
Kris to set up a smack talk area on the Portland Racing
Site....................as if he does not have enough to do putting these races
on.

  Call
'em out! We don't have the Cross Crusade Smack Talk for short track, so let's
hear it...

Hey, I don't want to begrudge anyone the chance to race twice in a night, so I'm just wondering....if you race Cat 1 and Cat 2 (or Cat 2 & Cat 3) should you really be included in the Cat 2 standings?
