First of all, thank you everyone who has already expressed interest and excitement in:
The 2003 Oregon Uphill CHampionship series - OUCH
"The elevation series designed for more than just climbers."
It's going to be a great year for everyone and a couple of questions have already come up:
Here's the short of it: (Let me know if you want the long of it offline)
* Sorry for the error on the flyer and website dates.
Bald Peak is Sunday the 27th, not the 29th. The 29th is a Tuesday and no good for a morning bike race. My typo.
* Please note that while the district event is part of the OUCH series, OUCH classes/divisions are completely separate from the OBRA medal categories awarded at the District Hillclimb event. You will be scored twice at the District event. First for your OBRA medal and championship placing and second in your OUCH classification.
* Tandem class omission.
A tandem class should have been included for the OUCH Series. My boo-boo, Yogi.
*Junior classes:
There should have been a single junior category. NOTE: As Bald Peak is a first time event, the juniors course has not been determined nor confirmed due to the grade of Laurelwood Rd. OBRA determination pending.
Discuss:
* Over the winter several emails went out about various venues and events with regards to attendance levels so we are trying to make OUCH accessible to all riders of all abilities. That is why the primary goal in our first year is to attract a wide range of abilities, with a large attendance, and have a lot of fun.
Any input, suggestions, or recommendations will be welcomed and reviewed. Here's your chance to make a first year event the foundation for a long term returning venue. Now is the time to let us know what your hillclimb wish list is all about.
Best wishes and regards,
Ernie Conway
