14th Annual Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge Begins Friday
Massie, Mansker and Crane Among the Stars to Watch

Portland, Oregon Two-time Olympian Giddeon Massie (Team Religion), current 200m record holder Tela Crane (Lake Washington Velo / Hagens Berman Cycling|Broadmark Capital) and rising star Kevin Mansker (Project London) are just a few of competitors who will be competing at the 14th Annual Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge (AVC). The AVC is a three-day event featuring some of the worlds fastest racers on the steep 43-degree banks of the Alpenrose Velodrome. Former Olympians, World Cup participants and rising stars will be competing for $13,000 in prize money.

Massie was a 2004 and 2008 Olympian for the United States in the keirin and team sprint. He will face off against local rising star Kevin Mansker (Project London) who has been setting records at every Velodrome he visits the past few years. The two recently faced off at the Hellyer Velodrome Challenge in San Jose, CA. This will be Massies first time racing the steep banks of the Alpenrose Velodrome.

On the womens side, Tela Crane will be returning to Portland after a few years off training with the national team. In June, Crane set the American flying 200m record and will be looking to set a new record for the Alpenrose flying 200m. Shell be facing off against local stars Erin Glover (Bike Central) and Jen Featheringill (Bike Central) among many others

Racing at the Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge will start Friday at 1:00pm and continue through Sunday. The event is free to the public. Saturdays 4:00pm session will feature a kiddie kilo.
