Mohair seemed interested in the cost of EPO-
As a disclaimer let me first start off by saying that as an ER physician the only indirect experience I have had with Procrit( one of the commercially injectable forms of EPO ) has been while my wife was being treated for breast cancer and became anemic enough to need to boost her blood counts back up with the use of this agent .

If you have a prescription and are buying it out of pocket from a pharmacy you will likely need to take it 3x/ week for at least several weeks to a month . The dosing is variable and depends on body weight . For a 130-140 lb person one would likely start off with a dose of about 3000 units / injection . A single dose would run about $ 60-70 per injection .

I hope that this helps mohair figure out whether he can afford it or not .
