Upper Echelon Fitness is proud to announce the launch of our new PDX
Juniors Development program!
I want to let you all know that our first ride is planned for the first
Thursday of August (08.02.12). We will meet at Upper Echelon Fitness (
bit.ly/MOJMQp) at 5:30pm, go for a short ride in the neighborhood to start
getting acquainted, and discuss what we will be doing over the next few
months. We may also have time for a short skills game in a nearby park so
please have riders bring their cyclocross or mountain bikes and riding
gear. If they only have a road bike that will be fine, but knobby tires
will work a bit better for grass drills. We will return to UEF for parents
to pick riders up at 7pm.

Regular weekday rides:

- Tuesday rides or trainer sessions will begin at UEF at 530pm, and will
be an hour and a half long. If a ride or class is going to be longer than
1.5 hours I will notify everyone the week prior.
- Thursday rides (excluding the first one) will meet at Alpenrose Dairy (
http://bit.ly/NDG3K1) at 5:30pm for cyclocross clinics. We will begin
cross clinics with some warm up so that all the riders who can not make it
right at 530 will be able to participate once they arrive. The clinics
should be over around 7, but may run a bit longer. There is a fantastic UEF
women's clinic at Alpenrose at the same time, which might be a great way
for some of you to get training in while your child is working on skills.
- Saturdays at UEF from 930 am to 11:30am. These will be longer group
rides, often through Forest Park. Riders are not required to make it to all
three weekday sessions, but a minimum of once a week would be best to not
miss anything.

In the first few weeks of this quarter we will all discuss what races we
would like to attend, and any other events that the riders are excited
about. I can take riders to three weekend races a month, and we can also
talk about any week day events they are interested in. In addition, I will
talk with riders about what sort of nutrition and bike maintenance classes
they would be most interested in.

We will have full kits available for purchase soon, as well as a web page
for the program.

Please feel free to email me with any questions that come up between now
and the first ride. I am stoked to meet everyone and get this team rolling!
