Bike racing items; some not covered in the rules (thanks to David Douglas):
1. No warming up or down on the course, either the direction we are racing
or
the opposite direction. If you need to warm up bring a trainer or use the
first lap like most people. If you are warming up off the course ride no
more than two a breast on the right shoulder. Do not get in the way of
traffic.
2. During the race - If you get dropped and fall behind the follow car make
sure you ride on the RIGHT shoulder and wave cars past if they are behind
you. Never yell or flip off a motorist because you fell they should get out
of your way because "you are racing." Once you get dropped you are no longer
"racing" you are just riding your bike. If you catch the pack again then you
will be racing again.
3. Pre-race staging - Do not sit on your bike in the middle of the road. If
you
are not moving you need to be out of the road.
4. No personal support cars are allowed to follow the race at any time.
5. Finish Line - Do not stop in the road after you finish. Again if you are
not
riding your bike at speed you need to get off the road and into the dirt.
The roads are NOT CLOSED to traffic.
6. No peeing in public - use the bathrooms.
7. No littering - bar wrappers, gel packs, etc.
8. No tossing your water bottle off for the final sprint - this is not
the tour, Chippo!
9. No yelling. cussing or hand gestures at motorists or residents.
10. Be friendly to the residents - wave and say hello.
