I brought this up last year at this time and started a whole string of

agreements and excuses.

I saw all the same littering this year.

Talking about it is O.K. but maybe the follow officials could start

enforcing the rule. I know it's tough to see who did what, but try.

Speaking of rule enforcement, I read last year that riders with unreadable

numbers would not be scored.

It seems officials went to some trouble to score riders with unreadable

numbers at Cherry Pie.

Just an observation.

I have had complaints regarding littering at bike races. It is important to

remember that there is nothing about being at a bike race that makes this

acceptable, in fact quite the opposite. According to the OBRA rules:

"17.1.2 - General rules...

- Riders are not permitted to litter. (Penalty at the discretion of the

Chief Referee.) "



This includes water bottles, gel wrappers, bar wrappers, etc. Although it

may seem cool to you to throw off your water bottle like you see the Euro

pros doing on TV, the general public sees this as uncouth. There is no one

who will go around picking up after you. Race venues are hard to come by

and it would be a pity to lose one because of a few tossed away water

bottles.
