I believe that they quit doing bike inspections due to law suits. they used

the argument that if the bikes were inspected then they were 'certified' as

safe. Because of that we, as officials, were told we could do spot checks

but that you could not require all bikes to go through inspection.

doing inspections!

Rather than telling someone else what they should do, we should all

consider becoming officials and working a race or two each year, we could

even ask to be the one assigned to checking everybodies bike prior to the

 warrants a two-week suspension?). I remember one inspection done by a

 totally hulky weight lifter dude...he probably could have easily said,
