Doing "Cross Crusade / Sellwood Cycle class year after year has never been a
negative for me. It gives you opportunity to get group and at times
one-on-one instruction. After you get basics down "OK" ( I still have
issues with technique) the class allows great opportunity to practice and
bounce experiences off of others. Over the years I have had different top
level instructors and gained personal insight from each. Have fun out there

Well so many of you are pushing me to race cross...so whats a good race for
a beginner? I'll be racing on a 26" hardtail and I really have no true
experience at dismounting.

So I'm looking for something early season and something where I don't have
to shoulder my bike for to long. Oh yea, and a course that when I fall I
won't really hurt myself so I can laugh at myself while I'm learning.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm a solid cat 4 roadie, and I atleast
made it out to 1 PIR short track and did fairly well. So I do have decent
handling skills for being new to dirt. I used to ride a lot of mtb in
college.

Thanks,
Stewart

one nice thing about CX is that even on a tough course there's plenty of opportunity for any level of rider to go out and have a blast. I'd reccomend that you start off at David Douglas this weekend. It'll be a lot like short track but with some barriers and more fast riding sections. If you somehow think it's too tough just hang out a minute and you'll get passed by a few old ladies and some kids all with giant smiles on their faces. Next Wednesday at Alpenrose will be the second class in a CX skills clinic put on by Sellwood Cycles. I did fairly well at CX last season but at last nights clinic I got one piece of technique that was easily worth several times the class fee and not only will it improve my placings this season but it will make me feel much safer and in control as I do so. You didn't miss out by not attending the first class. Go next week. It'll definitly up my game. Now, up yours! Thanks Sellwood. Thanks Team S&M.
