2012 Junior Cyclocross is in the AIR! The OBRA Junior & High School
Cyclocross Series is back for 2012.
After record breaking attendance numbers last year (on a national scale CX
Magazine Article ),
the Junior Cyclocross Series (JCS) is set to build where it left off. Like
last year we will run a best 6 out of 7 race series to sort out the top
Northwest Juniors in age/gender categories from 10 to 18. Within that same 7
race series there will be a best 4 out of 5 races that doubles up as a
separate High School Series (HS). In only its third year, the High School
Cyclocross Series is one of a kind. Oregon & Southern Washington High School
students have a unique opportunity to set the example for the rest of the
nation to follow. We had 10 High School teams last year and are hoping for
15 this year. It is really easy to form a team. The costs are very low.

The JCS kicks off at the Double Cross just like the series did last year
(now in Cascade Locks). I am looking forward the new venue and course. The
High School Series kicks off at the Classic Battle of Barlow. This will be a
great addition to the series and that run up will be super exciting and a
huge challenge for everyone. New this year: The Awards will be held
separate to the race series. Doing the scoring on the final day and holding
the awards was too much work. We will still have the awards at the state
championships on December 1st with some great Junior and Adult racing to
draw you in. That Junior race will not count as part of the series. Don't
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need help forming your
High School Team.
