The 2012 road racing season has come to a close and it's time to think
about off season training. Although it is a common practice to focus on
building base miles at lower intensity during the off season, this is the
ideal time to focus on power development!!! Most exercise scientists agree
that competitive cyclists should include intensity in their winter
workouts. The best way to achieve measurable power improvements is through
structured training on the CompuTrainer. This computer technology has
enabled many cyclists to make significant power gains for improved climbing
and time trialing through a controlled and measurable environment. That's
why we call it science.
The Peak Centre for Human Performance of Vancouver, BC has joined forces
with CycleOne Coaching to launch an indoor race series in Portland. The
Peak Centre Winter Racing Series is now in its 9th season and has expanded
to include cyclists from 14 cities across Canada and the U.S. Each week
riders will race on a different course. Results will be compiled each week
with Stage, General Classification (GC) and point leaders in different
categories to be presented along the way to see who the leaders are based
on the times posted, points collected and individual improvements. The
results will be divided into 4 categories: Mens and Womens, As and Bs.
This 12 week program will start on September 25, 2012 and continue until
Dec 15th. A second series will be hosted in January for a full 24 weeks of
power training and racing. You may race as few or as many events as you
like. The cost is only $12.50 per race if you enroll for the entire 24 race
series.
*The Portland event will be held at the Fit4Ever Wellness Studio in NW
Portland. This private cycling studio is the new training home of CycleOne
Coaching and is located in the space formerly occupied by Athletes Lounge
at 2600 NW Vaughn St. The series is for all levels of ability, so come for
the racing or come for the training and social aspect of it.*
