National Bike Registry

Hey OBRA-land,

Recently had my house burgularized - but was relieved to find the scum
didn't steal my bikes (the computers they took were crap and needed
replacing anyways - ha!). Whew. Have had a few friends recently that have
had their bikes stolen (and recovered!). All of which has made me start
thinking about registering my bike and serial numbers in the event
something "very bad" happens to my bikes.

Any of you have experience with the National Bike Registry (
https://www.nationalbikeregistry.com/)? They charge a relatively small fee
to register a bike, and a small fee to search the registry.

I know there are a few other places that exist for just searching for
stolen bikes (like: http://www.stolenbicycleregistry.com/). But I was
considering "pre-emptively" registering my bikes. I suspect it's really
not worth it ... since I could just be good about taking a few pix of the
bikes, recording the serials, and making that info safe somewhere. Then if
anything does happen - register with the above sites?

Any thoughts or feedback? Thanks!
