spray adhesives for cross numbers?

I tried that two years ago and ended up in the ER to get my hand and jersey
separated. Just kidding.
Here is an idea.
LEAVE THE NUMBERS ON THE JERSEY ALL SEASON, DON'T WASH JERSEY, JUST WIPE MUD
AWAY FROM NUMBERS TO KEEP OFFICIALS HAPPY. PEOPLE WILL ONLY NOTICE THE
SPECIAL ODOR BEFORE YOUR RACE IF YOU ARE WARMING UP ON ROLLERS INSTEAD OF
OUT AND ABOUT!

Subject: [OBRA Chat] spray adhesives for cross numbers?

Has anyone had any experience using a spray adhesive for their cross
numbers? Sure would be a lot easier than all those pins. I've heard
through the grapevine that some people have tried the "3M General Purpose 45
Spray Adhesive."
Obviously would want it to stay on in spite of sweat rain etc, but also
wouldn't want a permanent sticky residue on the kit; ideally something that
would come off in the wash...

Any thoughts?

thanks,
Lloyd

You could sew some of the small chromed neodymium magnets inside the shirt
and then fix others on the race numbers. Invisible in the shirt for
multiple positions for the various disciplines.

I've not tried it though its just a throught.

Dear #M General Purpose 45 Spray Adhesive guy,

I have used a product similar to this one. http://www.racertape.com/ It
works but I have found that the time to put the tape on is similar to
pinning and pins are cheaper. I bet spray adhesive would work but I am not
trying it. Sounds messy and I bet it would leave a residue. I hate mess.

The only reasonable fast method I thought of was using Velcro...one half to
your jersey and the other to your number. A small time investment up front
but it would work well. I havent done it because I race many of the
disciplines and each one wants the number in a dIfferent location. (left,
right, back, shoulder, etc). I might as well ride for Team Velcro! However
if you only race cross...

If you, or any other clever souls out there, decide to try this I
recommend sewing the "loop" strip on your kit and the "hook" part on the
number. The hook part is hard on items in the washer.

Yours truly,

The Answer Guy
