Looks like we might finally get some rain next weekend! Get prepared now,
with a set of FSA carbon tubulars and Challenge Fango mud tires. $500
The details:
Front FSA RD-488 (49mm), rear FSA K-Force
(50mm). Rear has exposed nipples (great
for mid-season truing).
Challenge Fango 32 (mud tires). Tires are glued with the Stu Thorne Belgian tape method, the side walls have been Aquasealed, and they have Caffelatex
sealant. Tread edge is lifting in a few spots, but some carpet glue can smooth that.
Includes skewers and Shimano wheel bags (if you want them). Just throw on a cassette and swap your brake pads out (I recommend Swiss Stop yellow). Tires have 4-5 races on them, wheels 1 full season.
These wheels are completely race ready.
Sort of. When I was cleaning them on Saturday for a sale that fell through, I found a spot on the rear rim where either the fibers have separated (brake wear) or I crunched the edge a bit. The damage is right on the edge of the rim bed. Would I race these wheels? Yes. I'd put some carbon epoxy resin (or a heavy dose of nail polish) along the split and make sure the brake pads are set up below the spot. Could you successfully remove the tire without further rim damage? I'm not sure.
But I need money and the window for selling 'cross equipment is pretty narrow. So here's the deal. I'll throw in one used TUFO Primus 32 and one used TUFO Elite LPS cyclocross tires, as well as twoTUFO S33 Special 21 road tires (never ridden, previously glued, yellow tread). If you act now, you will also receive a vintage (mid 1990s) rear HED Jet tubular wheel. This wheel has an aluminum brake track with 60mm carbon fairing, 28 bladed spokes, nipples at the
hub. Wheel is reasonably true, but has a slight dent.
So, for $500 you get a pro set-up carbon front wheel, a somewhat questionable but pro set-up carbon rear wheel, two solid 'cross tubulars, two very nice road tubulars, a speedy rear wheel for your TT bike, three skewers, two wheel bags, and a partridge in a pear tree. Wheels are in Hood River, but I can try to get them to Portland this week or to Ninkrossi on Saturday.
