John Wilson

2012-10-17

All, we have reached the half-way point in this year's OBRA Junior and High
School Cyclocross Series. This Saturday October 20th is the fourth round of
the JCS at the Canby CX Challenge
. Special thanks to Randy
Word. This is a cool venue and sure to please. Looks like there will be some
great food and support so I hope to see you all out there. The following
week we will resume the High School Series and have the 5th round of the JCS
at the ever popular Deschutes Brewery/Cross Crusade course in Bend. Don't
forget to work on your Halloween costume for the Sunday race (not part of
the series).

I am pleased to welcome Kona bicycles as
another title sponsor for the Series. It is great to have their support and
all of you should be looking forward to the fantastic SWAG & Grand Prize
awards at the series end. Thanks to Kona for showing their support of Junior
Development. I also want to note that the first ever sponsor of this series,
Sellwood Cycle Repair , has stepped up their
level of support this year. Thanks to Erik Tonkin for his commitment and
continuing support of Junior Development. If you get a chance to stop by the
shop be sure to thank them for their support.

Everyone please show your appreciation of our title sponsors who make this
all possible.

Awesome team and series jerseys from Castelli

Nutrition support at all the races plus series awards from Hammer Nutrition

Grand prize wheel sets from Rolf Prima

Medals and promoter discounts that enable lower entry fees from OBRA

And don't forget the bankroll for running the series. Thanks for putting up
the money for youth development from Pacific Power

Promoters and officials I am not forgetting you either. Thanks for all you
do to make this possible.

OK, let's summarize the racing action so far:

You can find the current JCS Series standings here: JCS Series Standings
after Heiser .

Keelan Ontiveros is crushing the Men's 10-12 this year. Even though the
10-12 start about a min, 30 seconds behind the 18-13 Men, Keelan has been
working his way up to mid field. Impressive. Will he be the next
Cameron/Lance/Sam?

Cameron Beard is dominating the 13-14 Men's ranks and also has taken out an
overall win at the Double Cross. Cameron has finished in the top three of
every race so far duking it out with Sam Rosenberg and Lance Haidet. Many
have commented that this racing has been some of the most exciting during
the day.

Lance Haidet, Sam Rosenberg, Javier Colton, and Adam Oliver have taken the
top 4 spots in the first three races of the Men's 15-16. Lance and Sam
swapping a win each. Sam has a narrow two point lead over Lance at the
moment.

John Crandall has the lead in the Men's 17-18 with Connor Dunn just two
points behind.

On the Women's side Gabrielle Lehnert has also show skills above her age
category. She has won all three races in the Women's 10-12 and impressively
moving up to mid pack in the older age groups. Jennelle Holmes has an solid
hold on second with Sierra Kelly in third.

Catherine Lehman has a strong lead in the Women's 13-14 but there are five
ladies within 12 points of each other for second place. This should be
exciting.

Susannah Hart has won all three races in the Women's 15-16 and finished
second overall twice, third overall once. Katie LaFevre is in second with
Katie Ryan and Marisa Reid just a few points behind.

Dutch Phenom (exchange student) and team Rabbobank racer Julia Schobben has
won every race so far. Sharon Hart has made her earn them in the Women's
17-18 category by taking second in each race. Along with her younger sister
Susannah, the two Harts and Julia have finishing in the top three each race.

Great job by everyone. Keep fighting for those finish places. Remember you
have one race to throw out (Best 6 out of 7). For any more information don't
