Mechanic advice wanted: corroded rims

Thanks all. So...no really need for primer? I'm thinking of touch up around the valve stem area where there is pitting and maybe other places where the pitting is significant. Which of you want a free bottle of Stan's?

You can get CafeLatte at most any coffee shop in Portland.

You can get Caffelatex at most any bike shop in Portland. I know for
sure River City has it.

I believe that CafeLatte is Ammonia free so this should not cause the same
corrosion.

Does anyone know where to buy CafeLatte in Portland?

Sealents like Stans and others have ammonia in them. Aluminum does not like ammonia. Look at an alloy rim a while after a dog pees on it.

I saw corrosion after a year of road tubeless use with the combination
of Stan's fluid and Ksyrium wheels. Not sure if it was the Stan's
fluid, or the specific combination of Stan's with the Ksyrium alloy.
Google for "stans corrosion" and you will find a decent number of
similar stories.

Not sure if other sealants (caffelatex, ...) would have the same problem or not.

I am not a metallurgist, but I would guess that the amount of metal
being eaten away is negligible to structural integrity.

Anyone has any suggestions on removing corrosion on the rim bed on a tubeless rim? And whether applying primer is a good idea to prevent further corrosion?

The best answer wins a free 16 oz bottle of Stan's. Thanks.
