tony kic
the final 2012 blind date is upon us. we've had a great series this year from every angle and can't wait to finish it off with an epic battle in the mud. most importantly we'd like to thank alpenrose dairy, OBRA, and 21st ave/fat tire farm for making the series possible... and castelli, stumptown coffee, bern helmets, and nong's khao man gai for supporting us with killer prizes and food! i'd also like to thank all our friends that stepped up to help after i bounced off the ground and got broken at rainier. i put some crazy hours into this with two good arms each week and thought the whole thing was sunk when i learned i'd be down one for a bit. sure enough, between the race community and the crusade crew pulling it together we are able to make it happen. i'd like to leave you with a few notes for this week:
-keep your head up for a couple small course changes: we'll be adapting to the rain a bit and moving things around to keep the course safe and minimize wear on the venue.
-our sweet series posters are available, we'll give several to the 21'st ave team to put on the prize/prime block... but if you don't win one they will be at the merch table for $2, along with the few xl shirts we have left and our castelli/blind date caps.
-series points are tight, and there are jersey's on the line! we'll do our best to have results tabbed up, but man it's a lot of numbers to crunch and we are but human. please let us know if we goofed things up by dropping joe and i an email. rest assured, if you earned a jersey we will get you one.
-i'll try to find a safe place for a bike wash somewhere, but with all the course crossings and manicured lawns it's tricky. if a good space is available i'll put up a sign, but if not please don't wash you bike in the bathroom/duck pond/ball field sprinklers/the dairy owners yard/etcetera. trust me, if there is a good spot i'll find it.
-the parking lot may be a bit of a mud bog. if we put out cones, it's an attempt to designate where not to park and is not to be confused as a rallycross course. i shouldn't need to say it, but please respect the property and in the off chance you get stuck out there i'll come help you.
joe and i simply couldn't be happier with the event this year, and are proud to be part of something with a spirit and scene so positive and fun. thanks for coming out and being so rad, and don't be afraid to contact the dairy and thank them for all their support for cycling.
see you wednesday!- tony and joe.
