Singlespeeds and brakes

This is clearly against the rules:

"7.10 Rules specific to cyclocross
...
7.10.3 Brakes
Bicycle shall have at least two brakes, one on each wheel, that are
in good working condition
7.10.4 Freewheel requirement
Bicycles shall have a freewheel mechanism
7.10.5 Freewheel requirement exception
A fixed may be used in races where all competitors are similarly
equipped. Free wheeled and fixed gear bicycles shall not be
mixed in the same mass start event"

This sort of rule violations need to be reported to the officials and the
rider removed from the race, disqualified, etc. Officials cannot be
expected to find all of these violations without assistance. This is a
safety rule. Violation of it could lead to people getting hurt.

At Alpenrose CC#1 Masters B there was a guy in front of me riding a single
speed fixed gear no brakes cx bike in the middle of the herd. Hipster
skidding to brake. Crazy.

Another heads up. A few years ago it was allowed to block out your gears
when riding the singlespeed category. That option has been removed. If you
are going to race SS, then you need SS bike. And your pit bike should not be
geared ;-) The other thing that caught some riders out this weekend was the
fact that you need 2 working brakes on your bike. If you have questions read
the rules
7.7.2
Thanks
