Lodging for the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to give you a heads up that lodging is becoming very tight right now in Hood River for this year's Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. With the exception of the masters all our categories are looking bigger than years past so lodiging will be hard to come by. Cooper Spur was booked up by the end of February this year so do not bother calling them. Our other sponsor Hood River Inn has only a couple of rooms left. If you do not book them today they will be gone by tomorrow. I am hearing from a number of riders that they can not find any accomodations any where else at this time. Hood River Inn only has rooms because we blocked off so many just for this event so be sure and tell them that you are in for the bike race. Packet pick up info is now posted on the web site and we will be posting the race bible later this week along with course updates. Also a reminder that tomorrow is the last day of registration. If you do not have it in by tomorrow you can do a late reg
istration up to May 24th but it will cost an additional $25 late fee.

A number of you have asked if the final stage is snow free yet and can be scouted. The answer is no. I was up on Saturday and there are still some large drifts blocking a couple of miles of road on both of the first two climbs. However this heat wave we are having should knock them out by race time. If not we will send the plow up. Thanks again for all of your support I hope to see a number of you out here in two weeks!

Chad

Good Morning OBRA land,

Just a reminder to get your lodging accommodations now for this years Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. Rooms are filling up fast and to receive the best accommodations it is important to book them early. Cooper Spur Mountain Resort (host and race headquarters) is now full with the exception of the log home for rent. If you have a good size team coming, this is the only way to go. The Best Western's Hood River Inn still has a few rooms left, but is filling fast. Info for both can be accessed via our web site at www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com.   For those looking for economy lodging we have blocked out a number of rooms until the end of the month at the Riverview Lodge in downtown Hood River. Please make sure and tell them that you are with the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic to assure you get a room. After March 31st they will go back to the general public. You can visit them on the web at http://www.lovesriverview.com or call 1-800-789-9568. Rooms will run around $45-65 a night. For additional listings of accommodations in the area go to http://www.skihood.com/acc.htm.

We are also going to be offering a kid's stage race on Saturday May 31st. More details will be sent out in the next couple of days. Things are coming together nicely and we are looking forward to putting on a great event this year. I hope to see everyone in May.

Sincerely,

Chad Sperry
